I really expected to love this one. After all, everyone on Goodreads, Bookstagram, and Booktok had raved about it. It boasted a gothic and atmospheric setting. I was so excited. But sadly, i didn't love the writing style. I didn't connect to any of the characters. It had such a good premise, but the actual execution felt so recycled. I mean, how many times can we read about the same characters stuck in a mysterious mansion with a brooding love interest? It needed more to set it apart. I keep saying I'll give this another shot and actually finish it, but I'm not sure if I will. It's a lengthy book, and I wasn't remotely interested in it the first time. If it had a bit more chemistry between the characters, I might've been able to tolerate it. Even if i disliked the setting but liked the characters, I would've been fine with it. This just didn't do anything well. It was a huge disappointment
