“There’s a monster in the shadows, and now it knows my name.”

Violeta will protect her brother, Arien, at all costs. When Arien’s dark magic is discovered by the Monster of Lakesedge—a young lord named Rowan rumored to have killed his whole family—they have no choice but to go to his estate. Leta didn’t expect to find a curse—or to be called toward something sinister in the lake.

I easily rooted for Leta as she struggled to be strong and save those she cares for. The Lord Under was deliciously creepy and complex. And Rowan was both dark and tender. I fell for him as I still feared him. The slow burn romance was lovely, all the intimate scenes beautifully written.

This book struck the right balance for me—a dark fairy tale with light and hope.

Book no2 Forestfall is out September 27th and I can’t wait to continue this dark tale. I loved the sneak peak we got of Rowan's POV at the end of this book.
