I would’ve bought this book just based off seeing the cover. The cover was hauntingly beautiful. I did like how the book had some drawings for chapters kinda got like a Dracula feel almost. The story itself seems like a gothic fairy tale that’s part beauty and the beast , part Hansel and Gretel but still it’s own unique story. Violeta was very protective of her brother and I feel like a little bit of a whiner. I did like Rowan and his airs of mystery. I did feel some parts were a little slow moving and there is still more I would like to know.
I feel like anyone who likes darker fairy tales will enjoy this story about magic and curses should definitely read this.
I wouldn’t have realized this was a debut if not for the back of the book with the authors blurb. Lakesedge was a little hard to put down as I kept wanting more. A great read for Halloween season
