I had this book on my tbr for a very long time, and I kept prioritizing new and shinier books over this one. And for that, I will never forgive myself. This book is everything I could have ever asked for from a gothic atmospheric novel.

While books like Lakesedge are not the typical kind of book I read, it touches a cord in my chest that reminds me of books like Carmilla, Frankenstein, and other classic Gothic novels. But, with a modern twist that is definitely drawn from modern movies such as Crimson Peak.

I am not the best person to be reviewing this book, only because I tend to read high fantasy novels and therefore those are in my wheelhouse of describing. BUT I felt like I needed to review this book because of one thing that was very important to me.

The main character, she's demisexual. And I can only think of one other book series where the main character is demi. That representation is so important and I love reading books where demi characters are so well represented!
