The imagery! Wow! I'm blown away by the prose and it's only on page one. "Shadows spill from his hands like unfurled ribbons, shrouding the floor with an inky mist." Beautiful! I also love the names of the characters, very olde French. It's a bit Beauty and the Beast-ish but then goes off on its own. It's intriguing and the cover is gorgeous!
