I can absolutely see a lot of LGBTQIA+ people, especially younger members of the group, relating to this book. Obviously not the pop star aspect, but quite possibly being the token queer kid at their school or among their peer group and feeling expected to ‘perform’ or express themselves in a certain way based on stereotypes. Hopefully they can learn that their label doesn’t (and shouldn’t!!) define them and there’s are WAY more than 1 way to be gay!!
