This realistic contemporary romance about Hunter, a member of a Canadian pop band called Kiss & Tell, starts with Hunter's very public break-up with his boyfriend Aiden. Hunter and Aiden were both out and beloved by fans, so their parting puts Hunter in a spotlight he doesn't exactly want to be in. How will Hunter navigate the pressure from "Haiden" shippers and queer youth who see him as the "model" gay boyfriend? Should Hunter start dating the cute bi guy who's part of Kiss & Tell's opening band? Khorram seems to want to navigate beyond the "coming out" story that we so often see in YA fiction, which is a welcome change for sure. Told through Hunter's POV - as well as through snippets of a documentary in-the-making, various gossip magazine articles, Buzzfeed-style updates, and text messages - Khorram's follow-up to the lauded Darius books seems like an enjoyable choice for fans of Julian Winters, Phil Stamper, and the "Heartstopper" graphic novels.
