Madhuri Iyer's mother believes in astrology. Madhuri does not. Or rather she does not "want" to believe. If she did believe her future was written in the stars she would have to believe her recent reading that she would "crash and burn" in her senior year. And she would also have to believe her family curse that she would have her happily ever after with her first boyfriend.

Madhuri is determined to prove that destiny does not exist and that she has the power of free will. She sets up an experiment to date her best friend, Arjun Mehta, with the intent of breaking up after graduation. Arjun, who has been in love with Madhuri since they were kids, agrees to the scheme. But Madhuri quickly finds herself falling for Arjun and has to decide what's more important, her heart or the experiment.

This book was an ok read. I enjoyed the elements of astrology and the fake dating trope. I do wish the author would have spent more time developing the relationship with Madhuri and Arjun. It seemed like Madhuri went right from faking dating to suddenly in love. It would have been nice to see more of a build up between the two main characters.

Overall I would give the read 3.5 stars.
