This a debut novel, so I haven't read anything from the author before. Kismat Connection is a young adult contemporary romance book. This book cover is beautiful so I was excited to read it. This book follows a girl named Madhuri as she gets into a relationship with her best friend(who has secretly been in love with her for years). Madhuri is dating him to prove her free will because she thinks she'd never fall for him. I liked the posing question of can you change your fate? I love friends to lovers and also fake dating so this fell into some of my favorite tropes. However I didn't love the romance in this book, I did not feel a connection with it and I felt a little bad for Arjun. I feel like this book would have been better if it wasn't a romance book and just focused on family dynamics/culture. If this author wrote another book I would give it a chance.
