As noted before in another of my reviews, I generally don't like to give a star review when I have not been able to complete a book, as one never knows what the final direction is without being able to finish it in its entirety. So please take my "star review" with a grain of salt, so to speak. I give it two, because while I don't think the writing was terrible, I also did not find it as engaging as I was hoping. I appreciate the genre generally, but was disappointed when I began reading. Similar to another book I found myself not finishing recently, I can not quite place what it is exactly about the book that left me feeling disengaged from the plot and characters, but I just couldn't go very far. As I have also mentioned in past review, I am a mood reader and sometimes I will come back to a book and complete it after having given it a go a few times sometimes, but this was just one I couldn't get myself to finish.

1 positive thing I can share, despite not finishing, is I always appreciate a cultural perspective and experiences from diverse characters, and this book has that going for it! I really think there's an audience for this book.
