I usually like YA books, easy to read and tend to be a fast and fun. Not this one. I even bought the book with my points because it sounded to good to risk the raffle.
It was a chore for me to keep picking up the book to continue reading. Yawn.

The cultural aspect of the story sounded interesting and educational. But, PLEASE, if you are going to use names of the food, dances and proper names, do let us know how to pronounce them and what the mean. I wanted to give the respect the cultural deserved, but I had to look up some words that slowed down the story. Example: Bharatanatyam, parathas, Arangetram and Thillana and so forth.

The story itself was slow. I just wanted to say, "Just get on with it". You can tell it is Ananya Devarajan's first book. She'll get better in time.

Now others may enjoy the story better than I. The good news is that every character had their own personality, which was wonderful.
