interesting topic, I can't get behind the writing style

The blurb looks really interesting and definitely like something I would like, but the writing is turning me off very quickly. It's just a little bit awkward and reads a bit choppy. Like suddenly the main character is nervous and so feels a bout of indigestion that "scorches his intestines to a crisp" which is just... a really odd description and sort of out of nowhere. I think the writing style is odd enough to put me off of the story so I'll pass on this one.
