The romance fiction world is no stranger to writing tropes, in fact, it embraces them. And romance fans are sure to pick up Kismat Connection because it utilizes the very popular trope of fake dating. I'm a huge fan of this trope, so I was really excited to pick up this First Look and I was not disappointed!

Told through dueling POV chapters, Arjun and Madhuri's connection is instantly apparent. They've known each other since they were children, they are comfortable around each other, and they support one another. Arjun's one-sided attraction to Madhuri is sweet and heartbreaking, as Madhuri very clearly doesn't seem aware of it or Arjun as a romantic partner. I'm curious to see how Devarajan will show the development of Madhuri's feelings for Arjun.

The writing is fun, light, and full of moments that highlight Indian culture, which I really enjoyed seeing. I don't think I've read a book yet that deals with astrological chart reading, so it's fun to see something new. I can already tell that the story is going to amp-ing up the play between "destiny" (Arjun) and logic (Madhuri), and I'm excited to see if Auntie Iyer's reading of Arjun's and Madhuri's charts will prove true. I'll definitely be picking this book up to read the rest of it!
