I liked the writing style and the first couple of paragraphs had me hooked, especially where the main character reveals she was in a harem. As soon as I learned she was only sixteen, I was turned off. I understand this is set in Cairo in 1888 and it was a much different time but the young age of the girl with an assumingly much older man (as he is high ranking) creeps me out.
