I am curious about the cover design since it seems to suggest a setting that would be modern day Kenya rather than Cairo, but perhaps the setting change is yet to come in future chapters and more details about the young woman named Saffron. The exotic setting and cast of unique characters should make this a fun book to read, although I'm not sure if this adventure tale is really a book for me. Lady Agatha's jealous and cruel conversation with Amber establishes an immediate conflict; most readers will probably want to know where this is leading. I like the fact that the author portrays older sister Rebecca's dilemma in a realistic manner: returning to English society in that era with her son facing a future of prejudice and unacceptance is not necessarily preferable to remaining with the husband of her son. As for Penrod, his story seems to be the one that ties together all these various characters.
