Hmmm, I’m not sure how to feel about this book. I loved the concept and setting of the book and the characters were enjoyable as well but I felt like nothing much happened until the last one hundred or so pages of this book.

This book follows May and Gemma, two sisters, in 1930s Chinatown as they try to solve the murder of Lulu Wong, a famous Chinese actress, but again I felt that they had barely figured out anything as far as solving the mystery until the end of the book. So I feel like this book could have been quite a bit shorter. I did really enjoy the last fifty or so pages of this book and I thought it had a very good and satisfying ending.

I really enjoyed Stacey Lee’s writing! I also really enjoyed reading in Gemma’s POV but I wasn’t as attached to May and found her chapters less interesting in my opinion.

All in all I think this book is interesting and well written and I would recommend to anyone looking for a book like this. It just wasn’t super memorable and a little slow for me but still enjoyable.
