Lulu Wong is a Chinese actress, who triumphed in Hollywood despite discrimination and being given the villain
roles. She is finally receiving more recognition when one day she appears dead. May and Gemma Chow found her, (knew her from school) and informed the police; but they closed the case quickly (due to the discrimination of the time, they were not interested in the murder of a Chinese person, famous or not.). The sisters are the ones who will investigate who murdered her.

We have 2POV, May and Gemma, sisters, I love their relationship, both intelligent and brave, they leave their comfort zone to investigate and give justice to Lulu, the more they investigate, the more secrets they find and they put themselves in danger.

There is a little bit of everything, mystery, friendship, brotherhood, and romance, my favorite part was the relationship between the sisters and their personal growth. Love the Old Hollywood setting, it's glamorous and sparkly but it has a dark side, the mystery was great and clever.

Something that I love about the author is that you can see all her research work and that her stories are about the dark side, about how Chinese migrants were treated and how they lived in Chinatown, the description they experienced, and also how they lived day to day. In all the author's novels, we have smart girls, who do not fit the mold and who want more, they are talented girls who fight to show what they are capable of. Kill Her Twice is semi-inspired by actress Anna May Wong, the first Chinese American actress to gain international recognition, she left Hollywood due to the constant discrimination.
