Overall, I thought that this was a strong murder mystery story!

And yet, one thing I loved the most about this book is that is was much more than a murder mystery. It was fun to read about the explored themes of friendship and sisterhood, and I appreciated how the author explored the racism in this society and time period.

I liked that we got dual POV from the two sisters, as it really allowed us to see the full scope of their sibling relationship with each other, and allowed us to see their relationships with other people (especially since they each have their own romance subplot).

I loved how thoughtfully Chinese culture was woven into this story, as I learned a lot of fascinating details as I was reading.

The vibes of this story were great. The writing was lovely and immersive. The characters were well fleshed out overall. And to top it all off, the final reveal did not disappoint!

So I would definitely recommend this book!
