Frankly, I have very mixed emotions on this one.
One thing I really enjoyed was the setting and the the very authentic portrayal of life back in the 1930s. The arranged marriage thing, the taboo around working girls, that sorta thing.
But there was not that edge-of-you-seat, heartbeat-fastening vibe to it. Also, at some places, I think the writing was a bit more pretentious than it needed to be.
