I love the setting of this book. Chinatown in the Depression Era isn't something that we read about very often in a Young Adult book. The story is told in two point of views, Gemma and May. They are the eldest daughters of their family and are running the father's flower shop while he is sick. Gemma is wily and May is watchful. I enjoyed both of their personalities. When they come across a dead Chinese movie star, they don't trust the police to solve the mystery.
