I am a huge fan of noir and whodunnits and I find when they are placed in a historical context with non-white characters like this one they are often much more interesting than traditional whodunnits. Since they are often populated with well to do characters, I find that a noir in this style is so refreshing and has a more interesting perspective and more to say.
