Wow!! This book was excellent!
The writing style was very easy to read and flowed nicely. Juliet's accent was authentic and palpable through the writing style. Same with all of the other characters. The cover art is also eye-catching, and visibly queer.
I absolutely loved the QTPOC (queer and trans people of color) representation in this book. The Black queer women were amazing and so lovely. And I really appreciated all the explanations of queer terms as Juliet navigated those questions herself. That was such a humble way to educate the reader. I also learned so much about Puerto Rican and Nuyorican culture. I felt immersed in Juliet's world and her family.
The plot was way better than I expected! I have to admit, I was wondering how fun a book about a summer internship would be, but it was super awesome! I loved reading about how Juliet learned to find herself and listen to her voice. This was a wonderful coming-of-age type of story.
