A Thought Provoking Book with a Main Character Your Have you Meet
Juliet Takes A Breath is a book that makes you examine how you think about gender, race, sexual orientation and societal expectations. It’s a story about Juliet who comes out to her family before leaving for a summer internship, the journey to discover who she is and how she learns to better understand the world around her.
Gabby Rivera has created a character who is real, honest and jumps off the page. Juliet is the type of person I’d love to hang out with. She’s strong, vocal, direct, funny and a bit weird. The only thing that I didn’t love about this book is that there were times when the plot moved slower than I would have liked.
This is a deep read that takes on a lot of topics and is written with so much heart.
