Juliet Milagros Palante sounds like the perfect character for a 2019 coming-of-age story! Plus, I love Rainbow Rowell and Elizabeth Acevedo, and Juliet works for a writer, so my favorite themes are oozing from this book!
There are too many neat and squeaky clean coming out stories. Maybe to make teens feel better and braver about it - but I think it paints a wrong reality, and when Juliet comes out and her mom is less than thrilled- it sets up to be a really interesting and REAL premise for a story! Especially when such beautiful diversity comes in to play!
