This is the first book I have read by Lynda La Plante and won't be the last! Judas Horse is truly about bad guys and police men. Each trying to get in front of the other for good and evil. Detective Jack Warr is a diamond in the rough sort of detective, playing nice in the sandbox is not really his style when trying to catch the bad guys. He is talented, rough, and bends the rules to solve the case. In this story, we have a bunch of thieves breaking into homes, that are becoming reckless and uncaring about whom they hurt/kill in the process of getting what they want. Jack is send on assignment to assist, and quickly finds a source he can use. Unfortunately, using this source can put the person in harms way. Because the source has ties to the thieves, Jack has no problems enforcing a threat that she cooperate or be jailed. Essentially, becoming Judas in the betrayal of bringing the thieves towards the police. I can't wait to read more of Jack Warr as a detective fighting crime, but being just on the edge of that gray line where he risks his career and family.
