I would like to start by saying I am well aware this book ruffled feathers. Some were not fans, feeling as though the authors bastardized the beloved classic. However, it says right on the cover "romantic retelling", and lets be honest, many deeply loved stories are retellings of classics.

With that disclosure out of the way, I wholeheartedly loved this book! I deeply love the original Little Women, and I love that Alcott stuck to her guns about not marrying Jo to Laurie; I appreciate a strong woman not caving to the demands of her fans. However, the helpless romantic half of me was devastated my ship didn't come true. This book soothed that heartbreak! The authors did a beautiful job of sticking with the original plot points while also making this a truly unique story. The Marches, Laurences, etc. of this retelling blend so perfectly into the original set that I didn't feel like I was reading a second book written decades later, rather a mid-prequel of sorts. All in all, this was a wonderful retelling and would recommend it to anybody that loved the original as much as I do.
