As someone who has a deep love for Little Women, I tend to avoid any sort of re-tellings or re-imaginings for fear of disrespect to the original material. However, Melissa De la Cruz and Margaret Stohl have managed to capture the adventurous and wild soul of Jo March so perfectly. Though I was only provided with a first look, I quickly found myself wrapped up in the story; it was as if I had been dropped into Orchard House amidst the chaos of the March household. The book offers beautiful and descriptive prose akin to Louisa May Alcott's and the story promises adventure but not without its ups and downs.

The well established sisterly bond was alive once more on the pages of Jo and Laurie and I cannot wait to see what this particular version of the story has to teach us about women, familial bonds, and the struggles of expectations.
