Okay, so after many times of reading and attempting to read De La Cruz's books, I think I have finally decided her stories and style of writing is just not for me.
I have read her Hamilton series before, her descendants series and Queen's Assassin story. All of these have let me down, however with a good little women retelling, I knew I had to give this one a try, however it did not work for me.
I am a lover of little women stories and retellings, but this one did not work and tried so so so so hard to work in this day and age. The characters fell short and seemed like cliches of the characters from the original story that we know and love.
This cover is absolutely gorgeous though and I do appreciate the colorings that are shown, as it details the boyish and yet girlish sides of our main character, Jo.
