I wasn't sure how much I'd like a retelling of Little Women at first, but I was quickly hooked in the first few chapters Jo & Laurie. I really loved how the writing style felt so familiar, and on par with Little Women, but also with a distinctly unique spin on it.
I really enjoyed Jo's character in particular, and related to her struggles, especially when she says that she's a writer but she can't seem to write. It really captures the struggle to write that I and others face when we try to write coherent sentences. I also enjoyed the unique elements of the Jo & Laurie universe that made it totally different world from the original book. I look forward to reading more of books by Melissa de la Cruz and Margaret Stohl!
