Little Women is a hot commodity right now, for good reason. I love that classic title reimaginings seem to ebb and flow and right now it's Little Women season. This one imagines, like many a fan possibly secretly long for, that Jo and Laurie end up together in the end. I thought that the idea of setting the story between the first volume and the second volume of the publication of Little Women was supremely interesting, but I was almost put off my how meta the whole thing is. The idea of Little Women (the real one) being based on Louisa May Alcott's real life. We have a similar situation occurring in this story whereas Jo has based her first volume on her real life experiences and everyone knows and sees themselves in the narrative, she has yet to continue the story and is finding writing the next volume to be difficult. There wasn't much interaction between Laurie and Jo in these parts yet. But what we saw of setting up the story has me intrigued certainly. I'm wondering how the authors will, or if they will, work around the remaining parts of the original Little Women. Truly seems like an interesting idea, so far, as an almost alternate world Little Women.
