I am so excited for this sweet and smart retelling of Louisa May Alcott's 'Little Women'! The timing of its publication seems perfect - following on the heels of filmmaker Greta Gerwig's phenomenal movie adaptation, and living in a world that is starting to place fewer limits on girls' and women's stories.
My favorite part of this first look is how it celebrates Jo as a writer - even when, or maybe BECAUSE, writing is hard work. And her identity as writer is not weakened by being in love. The beautiful cover kind of speaks to these ideas, as well; the image of Jo holding HER book is paired with the lettering "Jo & Laurie: A Romantic Retelling".
