If the summary of this work didn’t draw me in the authors note had me running towards the next page. This book flawlessly keeps the essence and set up of “Little Women” while also incorporating another authors writing style. Seamlessly combining “Little Women” authors life, the characters she wrote, and imagination; we get to see what it would’ve been like after Jo’s book became a hit, which was an event that was inconclusive originally. Just because this is an alternate telling the personalities and relationships have not changed and are pulled off nicely. Jo is still as fierce and stubborn as ever and talks like it too. The take on the sisters hit the nail on the head, with Amy asking to marry a prince and wanting more luxurious goods. Meg’s relationship with John is redeemed with the realization that Jo writing wrote it out to be more silly then it really was. Unfortunately, the sad truth about Beth was revealed, but lays out how strong the bond between her and Jo really was.People would be lying if they said that they didn’t want Jo to end up with Laurie at some point.I have always thought of different ways for them to be together and I am relieved to see one come to life. The heartache the original book left us with is prominent and seeing Jo and Laurie together was so realistic that it left you feeling like this was how it was meant to pan out. Long story short, I want more, and this goes at the top of my reading list. As a teenager who was drawn to little women a long time ago I feel like this book will get more people my age to get into this series. I like how Jo responded to having them married off and wonder how this will work out with Amy. I can’t wait to see how Jo and Laurie will go past that friendship boundary and how Jo will take it. I have no shame to want more of this because it is remarkable and needed.
