Sara has spent years trying to prove her worth to her over achieving family, and a week long family vacation to Key West with her new boyfriend is supposed to show them, once and for all, that she can take care of herself. However, said boyfriend stands her up upon her arrival to the airport. Enter Luis Navarro, a local firefighter who has just been put on forced time off. Luis is a do-gooder with a savior complex, so when he encounters Sara, who proposes that he join their family has her fake boyfriend for the week, he hesitantly agrees.
This book is full of all the romance story cliches...jilted girl, pretend boyfriend, brooding don’t-get-close-to-me hunk, hot sex, oops-we’ve-been-found-out...it’s all there. Ordinarily, I’d roll my eyes, but this one is charmingly written, and I found myself really enjoying it. It’s probably more of a 3.5 stars book, but I’ll round up. 😊
