This is incredible. Personally, I could make a lot of my own life connections fit this book which made it all the more compelling. I always seemed to be the "less than" sibling no matter what I do and what I accomplish. I have also always been the one sibling that has made good decisions and loved without but somehow I am always the one that is not enough.
I have also experienced the "no show" boyfriend and faced that embarrassment. In hindsight I should have enlisted a fake fiance to really rile my family up because isn't that what family is all about. In a family there are always "expectations" to live up to and even when you do, at least in my case, it is not enough.
If I wasn't happily married, I would 100% go out and hire the best possible fake boyfriend to take home to my next family adventure/holiday/get together to see if that bumped me up a few rings. The things we do for family --- am I right? Ridiculous.
