This is a beautiful tale of two girls who grow up without their mother. It was written like a love letter to all the missing Native American women. Azure and Rainfall are taken away from their mother at very young ages. They bounce around foster homes until settling in with their extended family members. They learn what it means to be Native American and even more what it means to have a family. This book outlines their lives from the moment they were taken from their mother to well into their adult years.

I have to say this book did not captivate me like I expected. There's no denying that it was beautifully written. I really did enjoy the story line, but I just felt like it moved a little slow for me with nowhere to really go. Granted, many of the books I read are contemporary romances, mystery, thriller, and suspense so that may be why I felt it didn't move quickly enough. I did enjoy it, but it's really not my cup of tea.
