The book starts with the genealogy of a family. This already tells the reader that the names are going to be complicated and that the plot is not straightforward.

From the start, it seems to be a sad but also happy story, complicated and compelling. A mother, Loretta, gives to her two daughters the names of Rainfall Dawn and Azure Sky (pretty happy) but then she gives up her children to foster care (sad). At the time, the children are 3 and 4. We don't know why she had to give her kids to foster care, but from the memories of Azure Sky it seems she was actually a loving mother.

Definitely an interesting book, complicated but also that speaks about compelling societal issues.
