I enjoy reading books highlighting the Native American culture. Historically it’s a very beautiful culture in many ways. Realistically today it can be one fraught with many challenges. Trying to fit into the “white man’s culture” while helping children maintain some of their own Native American identity would be tricky. For a single parent such as, Loretta, I can discern already the challenges she faced trying to raise her two young daughters, Azure and Rainy. The book left off having me wonder how successful the two young girls will become, how their mother will cope in their absence, and what kind of foster care experiences they will have. This is a book I would like to read.
