I really enjoyed the dynamic of this book. It is full of information, photos, poetry, and more! I’ve never read much about this side of history, so I really enjoyed how clear the story was written to help me understand what was happening. The book is set up to read like a story, but also gives so many facts in an engaging and interesting way. As a teacher, I could definitely use excerpts from the book to teach my students when learning about wars and other people’s experiences throughout time. This book is versatile and intriguing from the beginning. I’m glad the author used a family tree to help guide the reader and kept photos throughout the book to help the reader visualize what they’re reading. I enjoyed this author’s writing style and story telling. Fiction and nonfiction readers alike will enjoy this book. It can fall into so many different genres, so it’s a book for everyone. I would highly recommend no matter what you like to read.
