I wanted to love this book...

I have been trying to read this book since I received it in late February/early March 2024. The prologue to the book which introduced Chinese mythology and the author's dad's life, was quite engaging. However, once I got past the first 16 pages, I found that the book couldn't hold my attention. I would get bored after just a page or two and set it aside. Every time I picked it up again, I had to reread it to figure out where I'd left off. However, I would get bored again and set it aside again. It seems like this type of memoir just isn't for me. If I can't even get past the first chapter, I doubt I'll ever finish the book.

I was really excited to read this book because I love mythology. However, I couldn't even get to the myths in the book. I'm sorry but I can't force myself to read something that I'm not enjoying. I wish the author the best of luck, but I just wasn't the target audience for this book.
