From the start I was very intrigued by the author’s writing style, but I was scared off by the description of the Great Phoenix, because I don’t tend to read books with mystical creatures in them. My discomfort with anything outside of realism is really battling with my love of memoir and I think the latter is winning. I’d be interested to read this book and then leave it in my Little Free Library for someone more into mystical things to pick up.
