This is a very moving tribute to the father that Alexandra Chan grieves immensely following his death. Robert Earl Chan was born in 1913, in the rural south, to a Chinese laundryman. Despite his very humble beginnings, and his struggle in Jim Crow south, he goes on obtain an education, and to lead a remarkable life of service to his country, along with a legacy of a wonderful life well lived. In files, and memorabilia discovered after his death, Alexandra constructs this wonderful remembrance and tribute to him as a means of coping with, and memorializing her grief as a help to others in similar situations.
