There weren’t too many text pages given in this first look, but the paintings are really beautiful and the pictures interesting. The story starts in the late 1800s with the author’s grandfather in his native China. It was interesting to learn about Chinese culture through the story of how he got his name, mixed with the events of his early childhood. The plot quickly picks up with murder and going on the run. It will be interesting to see how the author integrates her own life story with that of her ancestors, and what comparisons will be made between the generations.
