This book tells the story of T’aiPeng a young main who joins the revolutionaries in war torn China. Hidden by monks he tries to stowaway to America but is found by soldiers. They attempt to take him back to china for execution but are caught in a storm that T’ai Peng believes to be caused by the giant Kun Fish . Knocked off course the soldiers and their captive drift aimlessly T’ai Peng is able to keep himself alive by using seawater. Doing away with his captors he makes it to land and is once more cared for by the monks. Finally he makes it to America. Making his way to Li chin he is renamed Robert Earl Chan and works at Willie Chan &Co laundry. He always dreams of a free China and shares the beautiful stories and legends of his country with his children and grandchildren. The cover of this book is beautiful and the story of this young man’s life beautifully mixes truth and legends.
