Although I'm always excited for books that don't just fall into the white, straight, "normal" category I left this book feeling a little meh. I wanted to like it, I really did. I was excited going in based on the blurb and what the book is compared to but I really struggled to connect with Julia and by the end I found that I really didn't like her at all. I know unlikeable characters can really make a story but for me I just wanted to stop reading because I didn't like Julia rather than it enhancing the story or plot. I didn't really mind the steamy scenes but I could see how they might be a little too much for those with trigger warnings about sexual assault.
All in all I think this could be a fun beach read for some but it just wasn't for me.
