I felt like this started off a bit slow. I don’t know if it was the writing because some of the dialogue just felt extremely unnatural especially for the age it was protesting in the characters. It took me awhile to really get into the story and be able to appreciate the world that the author created with this story. The description and imagery is what really saved this book for me because it showed a world that was unlike what we are used to from the eyes of a young protagonist. The writing for me was a bit hard to follow and I got frustrated while reading this because it was hard to stay fully engaged, but I do respect the beauty in the story and the growth of the main character. His grief and compassion were very relatable and interesting to me and I thought it was a fun story!
