We start the book off with Nnamdi's father's funeral. He was murdered and it is still unsolved. His father's funeral is disrupted by "the most prominent criminals in Kaleria". Including, the Chiefs of Chiefs who Nnamdi is convinced killed his father. As the chapter goes on, we also discover that Nnamdi's father was Chief of Police who was honest and cared about the people he protected.
We then pick up a year later when Nnamdi is 12 and his father's death is still unsolved. Wow, this is a lot for Nnamdi to deal with and its heartbreaking that a young child has to deal with the weight of the world on his shoulders. This book hit my heart,especially because I have a 12 year old boy. I can't wait to be a part of Nnamdi's journey.
