Great start to a middle grade book! Nnamdi is an immediately likeable and relatable character--readers will care about the loss of his father and the affect on his family. The idea of the Ikenga giving him special powers is sure to interest action/adventure fans. And that this book is set in Nigeria and written by a Nigerian author makes it very desirable to librarians and teachers trying to build up their collections of "own voices" books.
