I Liked the Excerpt (but it took me a bit to get into it)

I adore reading MG books so I was excited to see an MG title featured here on Bookish First! I am torn on how I feel about the excerpt. I loved that it takes place in Nigeria, and I love the premise of the book. But, it took a while for the book to get interesting, and I didn't feel fully immersed in the story until the last chapter. We get that final teaser of the superpowers and until that point I really didn't see what direction the book was heading.
