This book impressed me. It tackles a lot, magical realism, important classism issues, and romance as well as school drama, without ever feeling confusing or overwhelming. The author did an amazing job balalancing all the elements of the book and the result is a very well rounded story with something for everyone, whether you like sudden magic powers, intrigue of the high school or political variety, tackling real world issues, or romance. Speaking of romance I really enjoyed Alice and Henry as a couple. I felt their journey from academic rivals to being a couple was very well done and fit neatly into the overall plot without overshadowing anything. Alice is a great main character, she makes mistakes and has real complicated feelings throughout the book. I felt for Alice, even though I did not agree with everything she did, which for me is the mark of a good book. This was an interesting and fun read.
