Unsure if this is a YA book I'd like
“My aunt once joked that if I were ever found at a crime scene, I’d be the first one arrested based solely on my expression and body language.” I guess Alice doesn’t have to worry about that once she’s turned invisible.
IF YOU COULD SEE THE SUN has an eye-catching cover. The title makes sense since the main character is named Alice Sun and she becomes invisible. Will she be able to stay in school because of her invisibility? How would her life be different if everyone could see her?
The writing is appropriate for a YA audience and the sample gives a glimpse of typical YA angst. While I am a fan of speculative fiction and do enjoy some YA books, I don’t see this as one that I would purchase right away. I did watch Gossip Girl and didn’t find it to be a favorite show so the comparison makes me question how much I’d enjoy this book. The First Impression wasn’t terrible though, so I would probably still give this a try by borrowing it from the library. Even though this might not be the right fit for me, I'm still rating it 4 stars as I feel it fits the intended audience.
